Me ‘n’ my sis enjoy few things more than we enjoy splashing in mud puddles after a nice rain shower. The Good Lord sent us a hefty amount of rain over a couple of days last month (but back to praying, as we are again already desperate for some more moisture around these parts) and we decided to put on our rain gear & head outside. We searched out worms & roly-polies… floated boats down the street, and played with Sage. The photos will speak for the fun we had. Bring on more rain!!!

mulching the rockies at trail west lodge
Our second annual trip to Buena Vista, CO for work week at Young Life’s Trail West Lodge was nothing short of fantastic…. AGAIN! The two-day roadtrips (both ways) were a doosie. Little Ardy was none too happy with being strapped down in the carseats, but we made it!
We go to work week with lots of others from around the country in order to work to help get the camp ready for the campers that will attend camp over the summer. Mom & Dad, along with the rest of the crew from San Angelo, were assigned to the “mulch crew” for the first part of the week. If you can imagine it, in such a LARGE campground area, there was mucho, MUCHO mulch to be cleaned up & re-mulched. They were pooped every day around 5pm when they’d come to pick me & Ardy up.
While mom & dad were off working their tooshies off, Ardy & I got to hang out with all of the other small kiddos that came with their families. We did all kinds of cool stuff – we went on nature walks, fed the horses, hiked a couple of trails, went fishing…. and my favorite part – we rode around in a big “people mover truck” where we could all yell & cheer on all of the workers. I loved to go to club every night, where we sang, worshiped the Lord, and watched crazy games ‘n’ skits.
The food was out of this world, although I was pretty under the weather with an ugly case of altitude sickness, so I missed out on several yummo meals over the first half of the week. Despite the crumby case of the sickies, Ardynn & I both had a fantastic trip! What a phenomenal group of people we went with… it was nice to spend a week so very close to God as a family & to get away from the stresses of our wild, wacky lives!
